This very nifty CD player puts that dowdy old standard Windows CD player to shame. Allows you to connect to the CDDB and instantaneously store complete artist, album and song titles of any one of your CDs to your computer. The neat thing about this QCD is that it allows you to change skins to suit your mood. Also supports streaming formats.

Napster 2.0 Beta 9.6 -- 1.8 MB

This cool program lets you connect and chat with other MP3 fans, allowing you to download MP3s off other people's computers and vice versa. Also lets you alter a number of search parameters to help you find exactly what you're looking for. This latest version also incorporates instant messaging. A must-have.

Axialis AX-CDPlayer 2.5 -- 1.1 MB

Another very good CD player which looks like the head unit of a car stereo. Also capable of CDDB sending/receiving.
 

Forget WinAmp – if you're into MP3s then I recommend downloading this player. This is the newest version of WPlay and contains a whole host of new features, including the ability to encode to wavs to MP3s, decode MP3s to wavs, CD player, CDDB compatibility, animated textures, etc. A variety of textures and animated skins are available for WPlay also. A definite must-get.

Phantom Sonique 0.97 Beta -- 1.5 MB

Another very good MP3 player, which also happens to be free of charge. It's a beta version so there may still be bugs. If you're into Star Wars then download the Phantom version, which offers a much better aesthetic design as well as features not yet available in the regular version of Sonique.

Another widely used yet mediocre MP3 player.

AudioCatalyst 2.1 -- 2.9 MB

AudioCatalyst combines the AudioGrabber and XingMP3 Encoder programs, which rips and encodes digital music directly from CDs - capable of making perfect copies in wav or MP3 format.
(Hint: If, after creating an MP3 with AudioCatalyst, an MP3 should make scratching noises and generally isn't of good quality, it may be necessary to tweak some of the general settings, e.g. by changing the rip method to a dynamic or fixed sync width, or changing the access method to analogue).
